10 yards

Here is a quilt of my own,
inspired by the many quilters who have
made quilts with a modern retro feel

I purchased fabric from one of my favourite
online stores.
10 yards of fabric from the one range.
I made the top with the addition of olive coloured
homespun.

Hmmm, there's a bit of fabric over!!!??
So, I made a pieced back.
I got to use fabric I really liked that didn't
make it to the front of the quilt.

Hmmmm, What about those selvages??
Easy Peasy!!
Mug rugs with tiny quarter Dresden's in one corner,
Free motion quilted on my domestic machine.

10 yards is allot of fabric!
So here's one more thing.

The pattern for the squares can be found at
Hyacinth Quilt Designs
I have made this design before in a lager block size
so when I saw that she had reduced the size
to mini, I thought I know what I'm going
to do with that and the other leftovers.

Not much left now!!
Or so I thought,
I found this folded up in my stash
when I was planning another stash busting quilt.

Oh well, I'm sure this happens to the best of us
I shall wait for inspiration for how I will use this.
Almost finished now, I just have the binding to do.
The cot size quilt will be for sale when it's finished,
So, if your interested, feel free to contact me.

Where did the time go?

Well! where did all that time go!
I haven't really hit the ground until now.
I spent quite a bit of time removing all these,

so that I could quilt this,

I first saw this quilt at
floatingonaquiltedcloud.blogspot.com.au
I ooohed and aaahhhed about it to my friend Linda,
Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather when she told me
it was hers!!!! and bonus! She had written the pattern for it!
And so began my journey with this quilt,
and here it is finished!
It measures 73x 81 inches.

I made an attempt,

to finish this,

went there!
That was fun!
I made new friends,
there are a couple of old friends here as well!
And of course there was quilty kind of shopping,
more on that later!

Came home, made and quilted this quilt in five days
so it could be gifted for a 21st.

here's the back.
All made with fabrics purchased while I was in the U.S.A

and then I had a lot of customer quilting to get done,
I didn't get photos of many of them,
because Christmas was six weeks away and I just had to get the work done.
We had a two week break at the beach,
and I managed to make a very scrappy cot quilt
in between house guests,
and then I came home to more customer quilts.
I feel like I have just caught up!
I will endeavour to do my best to keep up with projects and W.I.P
So, stay tuned!!

Piramid Progress

I had to stop making pyramid's
and put them on my design wall.
I came to the realisation that if I didn't pull the pin
I wouldn't finish within the time frame
that remains!!

I put them up without over thinking it.
took a photo, shuffled a few around, and
left it at that!
I cut all the setting triangles,
and began the process of putting it together.
So, that done
now begins the process of removing all of
the foundation paper. A person has to be excited
about that!!!!

I must get back to it, or I'll be quilting it at the eleventh hour!

Thanks for popping by.

Nana's Daughters Quilt

I made a quilt for my Mum.
I found a piece of blue vintage corduroy in an "opp shop"
I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it,
that was until I was inspired by a two colour quilt
in a recent edition of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting
Only I had to make it a three colour quilt,
as there was not quite enough of the blue cord
to make a reasonable sized quilt.
Mum may be a tiny person, however,
it needed to be big enough to "tuck her in"

So here it is
Pin wheels and paddle wheels.

Yes, the pink is BRIGHT!!
But little old ladies like bright colours

The corduroy was quite nice to quilt
I used wool wading, I like the loft of wool,
and as you can see the feathers pop nicely,
and after a wash it felt quite yummy!

So here she is, Iris Jean,
Marvelling at what allot of work I'd put into making
a quilt for her.
Mum has dementia,
So I'm sure that it will be a cause of conversation
and constenation for my sister
who cares for her full time!

A finished quilt

Here is a quilt by Ms Midge

Its called wavelength from Freshly pieced.
The panto midge chose is called
"clouds"
She wanted something to soften
the angular pattern of the quilt pattern.

I've known Ms Midge since she was just a "chicken"
She is an amazing wife and mother,
And for a person who never thought she'd be remotely
interested in quilting, well, I'm impressed!

Of course Miss Lucy had to get involved, again!
I think I might have to lock her out the next time I'm taking photos!
The only time she's interested in sitting on a quilt is when it's spread out
on the floor!

Pop over to Ms Midge and have a look at what she's up to,
I'm sure you'll like the quilt candy!

another one from the "box"

Those who know me, know this story.
I'm still a little gobsmacked by it.
Perhaps the heading should be, how lucky am I.

Back when I had decided this was the path I was taking
I was out with my sister when we stopped by
an "op shop" we hadn't been to before.
There, just inside the door were 3 containers,
filled with fabrics, from fat 1/8ths,
to lengths of more than a metre!

As my fingers walked over these not so neatly folded gems,
"Hmm, I like this one, and I like that one, oooh!
that one's nice" I then say to myself,
What do you think your doing, just buy it all!
I turned to the man behind the counter and asked,
"Is this the correct price?"
"Yes dear, that's the price per piece"
In my head I'm trying to remain cool,
"OK then, I'll have them all".
20 cents per piece! A grand total of...........
$25 .00!!!
When I re-folded these wonderful reproduction gems, my cane basket
was FULL! so full that I had to stack the larger pieces
on top, so looking at it now, I've used quite alot!
No more stacks on top!

So, what am I doing with these lovely cotton gems!
I have included some in a couple of quilt tops.
One of which was at the red and white display at linda's
folded with other flimsy's.
The pattern is called China Girl, from fons and porter.

It hasn't been quilted yet, I've been waiting for an epiphany,
and it did come, just need some time to put it into play.
But, more recently, I have been working on another project
that includes gems from the box

This will be a copy of an antique scrappy pyramid quilt.
Lots and lots and lots, of 2in triangles,
lots and lots of 3in triangles,
and lots of 5in triangles!!
and of course there is a story attached to why I'm making
this particular quilt, which I will share when it's finished.
I'll say this much,
It involves The Wonderful Linda!
Most of the blocks have at least one fabric from the box,
and shirting's with other fabrics  to fill in the gaps.
But in the mean time, there are customers quilts
to quilt, so I had better get back to it.

 Thanks for popping by!

A little bit of quilting

Hello again!
We have had some I.T. issues, hence no posts.
I been busy with some wips,
So, I will be playing catch up over the next few postings.

Here are a couple of quilts made by Glenda.
She has used luscious Liberty Lawn for the first one,
It was a dream to quilt!
Of course Lucy had to get involved!
Just a quick cat scan!
Yep!
All Good!

And this next one is all French General
and hand pieced as well!

I Love the way it shimmers!

And of course "the Help" Checking it's up to scratch,
Not in the usual cat manner of course!
She is just a stickie beak!

So, that's about it for today,
I hope you come by and visit again!

Cheery bye for now!
